The Donkey

Another domestic donkey, the Poitou, is from France. It stands 13 to 16 hands high, and has long curly wool-like hair and is usually black or dark brown in color. this is the draft animal of the ass family and is considered to be the most powerful of all donkey breeds. It has large bones, a massive head with a Roman nose, drooping lower lip, and huge feet. Jennets from this breed were used to produce jack-colts to produce draft mules. this unique breed is now rare and only 40 to 75 purebreds remain worldwide.
