Polish Arabian

An old and pure line is found in Poland, the early stock arriving with the Turks as war booty in the 16th century. Later, in the 19th century, it became fashionable to collect desert stock Arabians, a leader of this trend being Count Rzewuski. Count Rzewuski started the Sawran Stud in 1828 with 81 stallions and 33 mares which he collected from the desert. The breeding of these horses are promoted today because they have become valuable for exporting to other countries. Poland now has studs at Janow, Michalow, Kuroweki, and Biaka.
