Bits 'N' Pieces About Real HorsesAugust 1997 |
Received from the April 1997 Quarter Horse Journal we found out that Charmayne James brought "Scamper," her famous barrel racer out of retirement (age 20) temporarily, while her younger horse was recovering from surgery. Scamper and Charmayge finished 3rd in the average at Houston, the biggest regular-season rodeo of the year. At the Fiesta de las Vaqueros in Tuscon, they tied for top spot in the 1st round and won the 2nd and short-go outright, winning the average. Can't say older horses aren't worth anything!!
