Bits 'N' Pieces About Real HorsesFebruary 1996 |
A. There are 11 grey Morgans registered. I'm not sure if all are alive, but there is at least one new one. His name is 'Wintermoon Enlightenment.' He will be kept for a breed stallion. He is a grey color with black mane and tail and a star. It will be interesting to see how he develops.
Q. What is a Riwoche Horse?
A. Good question! I've been trying to find something out about this horse, and thanks to the recent Horse Illustrated magazine I can answer you. This is a new type of recent horse discovered in a high valley in Tibet. They aer described as about 4 feet high with triangular shaped heads and are a beige color with black dorsal stripes and black lines on their legs resembling scientific renderings of prehistoric horses. Explorers took blood samples and will be DNA testing to determine if these horses are really a new 'subspecies' of our present day horses. They will compare the horses' genetic markers to other wild horses, notably the Przewalksi horse. Can you imagine a new 'ancient' breed of horse??
