Syrian Arabian

This long-lived, fast Arab with good endurance originates from Syria, and is now distributed throughout the Arab countries and Europe. It is used as a riding horse and has a energetic and lively temperament. The Syrian stands 14.2 to 15.2 hands high and its coat is gray or chestnut. It has an elegant bearing which resembles the Arabian, differing only in its larger size, slightly wild eye expression, and less harmonious, more angular conformation.

This is a horse of the Bedouins, who put to the test its strength and endurance, which are tempered by all the hardships of living in the desert. It has ancient origins, and is believed by some to have descended from the Arabian. The Anazeh tribe, in particular, believe that it is an even better riding horses than the Arab.
