Foundation Stock Service Program

Breeds listed here are candidates for recognition by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and are in the AKC breed registry known as Foundation Stock Service (FSS) Program. At least 150 indivudal dogs muust be registered for a breed in order to compete in Miscellaneous Class at AKC sanctioned events. Registry in the official stud book occurs after offical recognition which includes "sustained nationwide interest and activity in the breed." Definitions of breeds by other kennel clubs, organizations, and businesses may differ.
